The Early Years

I started my career off in the mid 90's BC (Before Computers ;-) and the Internet were even popular for building business and definitely not for marketing. I was working as an actress in New York City and in the not-for-profit world for over 7 years. 

In fact, I studied non-profit management at Brooklyn College and while living and working in New York, I learned business from two different perspectives, but more importantly, I learned that acting was a business and when it was no longer fun, I left the profession.

In the early 2000's I transitioned my career and worked full-time as a K-12 classroom teacher and college professor teaching public speaking, while running a successful part-time business called DramaSmarts for over 10 years, in conjunction with speaking and conducting education and personal development workshops around the country. 

Through DramaSmarts I had the best of both worlds.  I got to run a business that combined my love for the arts with my love for teaching and children.


How I Built My Businesses

I built my businesses WITHOUT the Internet and was very successful at it.  So much so, people started paying me to teach them how to build theirs.

However, I didn’t know what I didn’t know and it cost me A LOT of money.

Basically, I made plenty of mistakes, so you don’t have to.

With my combined formal education, courses I've taken over the years, and coaches I've hired, I would say I've spent well over $100k and while it may be a lot of money to some, I believe experience will cost you one way or another.

The investment I made in myself over the years have paid off in the results I've been able to produce for my clients, as well as for myself as a business owner.  (Check out some of my happy clients HERE.)

While running DramaSmarts along with my speaking and coaching business, I taught myself marketing, how to create systems, find clients in a down economy and how to generate several thousands of dollars per month on a part-time basis by studying other business owners I admired, reading business books, taking courses and eventually hiring a few coaches to learn what I didn't know.


Why I Left Teaching

Have you ever gone to work and spent your day thinking about that idea you have, that book you wanted to write, the organization you desired to start?  Well, that was me.  I spent more of my time during and after work thinking about the impact I wanted to make in my company, EnvisionU.  I wasn't giving my students all of me and they deserved all of me or nothing at all.

I officially left teaching for the last time in 2015, to work full-time in my practice.  I was burnt out from teaching in a traditional sense and I simply couldn't work another year doing something I was no longer passionate about.

I've learned so much in business over the years. 

One thing I've learned is that great products or services mean nothing if you lack strategies and systems to sell them and to repeat the process with ease.

Also, if you don’t know who your customer or client is or worse, you have no idea how to reach them or you offer them no place to find you, then you’ll never generate the type of money you desire in your business.

I'm not going to tell you that I can teach you to make a million dollars.
