Terré Story

About Header (3).png
I live to show others that even if they are born into drug addiction and poverty, experience divorce, bankruptcy, sickness and failure, if I can overcome these things, then so can they. Failure is absolutely, not final!

FROM TRAUMA TO TRIUMPH

Terré is known by many to be a confident woman, but she wasn’t always. In her youth she experienced major challenges, growing up in poverty and the oldest child of two drug-addicted parents, her confidence was diminished, yet her resilience grew over time. She blames her challenged past for making her a woman that doesn’t cower to challenges, advocates for the empowerment of women and girls, and lives a life serving others through her work in business and personal development and empowerment.

Terré knows that it is her calling to use her life to help others overcome their challenges and redefine their own lives. She speaks to audiences around the country in schools and corporations alike, on topics of resilience, self-confidence, and leadership and her audiences are left with practical tools to transform their lives one step at a time. It was these trying times in her life that made her who she is today; a serial-preneur, realtor, transformational speaker, and empowerment specialist for women around the globe.

APPLAUDIBLE SUCCESSES

At 30 years old she started her first business, DramaSmarts, where she sent teaching artists into schools and used theater to teach children reading, writing, speaking, as well as social skills. Over the course of 7 years, DramaSmarts touched the lives of over 30,000 students in hundreds of schools across the country. She was invited to speak on panels and to share her work in schools and as a woman-owned business. She also won numerous funding opportunities, as her company gave students a safe place to be during the after school hours.

At the age of 38, she packed up her bags and moved across the world to Abu Dhabi. There she taught Emerati children, had the opportunity to travel to places like Sri Lanka, Thailand, Italy, and the Netherlands. These experiences shaped her world perspective and added to her teaching and speaking today.

In 2014, she published her best-selling book, Love Lessons and that same year, Indiana Tech awarded her with an honorary doctorate degree for her 20 years of service is the arts, education, as an author, business woman and mentor. Terré runs a real estate practice in Maryland, is the co-chair of the board for Aumazo, Inc., a non-profit organization that builds schools and educates girls in Cameroon Africa and she has authored and co-authored numerous books, including, “Persist; Inspiring Stories About Winning in the Game of Life When Losing Isn’t An Option”, to be released in the spring of 2019.

In early 2017 she experienced a painful divorce and nearly lost her life to a massive pulmonary embolism. She is grateful for second chances and a living testament to the power of resilience. Today she gives her time to speak to high school girls about confidence and resilience and she’s engaging and inspiring thousands at conferences and guiding corporate teams to nurture and invest in the talents of their leadership potential to achieve their goals. She has been featured in Swaay and Madame Noire magazines, on countless podcast and blogs that speak directly to women in business and empowerment and will launch her own podcast, also in the spring of 2019.

Terré believes that the things that happen in our lives may not be our fault, but they are our problems to solve. She empowers her audience to face their fears, dig deep in their souls, and uncover the power to be their own best advocates and solve the problems of their lives.

I know that everyone has the power to change the circumstances of their life, if they’re willing to invest in the possibilities of their lives.
